Smoothies for kids

4 Healthy Breakfast Smoothies

Welcome back to the blog! Today I’m sharing my favourite breakfast smoothie recipes for kids! Smoothies aren’t necessarily for every day, but I do find giving the kids one of these healthy drinks every so often is a great way to give them an extra dose of vitamins, minerals and fibre.

The one thing you have to be a bit careful about with smoothies is not to put too much fruit in, as they can be really sugary and obviously that’s not the best start to the day… but if you put just enough fruit in to make it taste great and always add some veg, like spinach, which honestly the kids don’t notice at all, they can be really healthy. Adding spinach gives an extra dose of protein, iron, vitamins and minerals.  I also like to add oats sometimes, which are rich in antioxidants and fibre, and make the smoothie more filling.

So, without further ado, here are four of my favourite breakfast smoothie recipes! Watch my video to see me making them, or refer to the recipes below 🙂

Blueberry Smoothie

Blueberry Spinach Smoothie Ingredients
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup milk (I often use oat milk)
  • 1 tbsp oats
  • 1 tbsp nut butter (optional)

Green Monster Smoothie

  • 1 ripe banane
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 tsp nut butter

Sunshine Smoothie

I asked you guys to come up with a name for this one and so many of you suggested the totally perfect ‘Sunshine Smoothie’, so I’m going with that!

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1 cup frozen carrots

Strawberry & Beetroot Smoothie

Strawberry & beetroot smoothie ingredients
  • 1/2 cooked beetroot
  • 1/3 cup natural yoghurt

So there you have it, four of my favourite smoothie recipes! If you have a go at making them, let me know how they turn out (and if the kids can spot the hidden veggies)!
